In General

The "Sykesville Train" was purchased by a local resident and "donated" to the city of Sykesville for kids to enjoy.  The train was supposedly purchased from a mall in Harrisburg and 1997 or so.  I believe  the train is 12" gauge, but I have to check on this, as my memory suffers from CRS.  Please don't whine when you get there and they tell you only kids can ride it.

There's plenty more to see while you're here in Sykesville, so don't forget to check out my Sykesville page (link below), and if you're hungry, you got two very good places to eat, Beck's (a restaurant/pub), and Baldwin Station, which is housed in the old B&O depot.  If you love Lionel trains, you gotta check out Purkey's (went out of business around 2012 :-(.

If you came to this page via one of the search engines because you "Googled" Sykesville Train, looking for railfan info on Sykesville, this page will come up instead of the railfan page... make sure you visit my Sykesville page for the information you are looking for... thanx, you're almost there!  :-)  :-)

Getting Here

From most places you would be getting here via I-70.  If so, take exit 80, and head north to Sykesville, about 4 miles.  At the traffic light where the Shell gas station is on your left, take a left, and the park will be on your right as you travel down the hill into Sykesville.

Coming in from the north, like Gettysburg, take the back roads to get to Westminster, then take MD 32 down to Sykesville, take a right at the traffic light where the Shell station is.
